My 'Trip of a Lifetime' dream came true through AMA Waterways, beginning with two days in Prague, and then south through Pilsen to Nuremberg. We cruised the beautiful Danube through Passau, Regensberg, Melk, and Vienna, ending in amazing Budapest for three days. The Wachau Valley was absolutely beautiful and we watched springtime blossom along the Danube. John Riley was our very professional and knowledgeable cruise director and local guides in key locations enhanced the tour. Local entertainment on board was delightful, food was superb, and the wine and beer were not too shabby either!
An amazing winter vacation in beautiful Puerto Vallarta! Lots of Mexican culture and history, warm and welcoming people, excellent food and great explorations. The Marina area is well worth exploring, and historic Puerto Vallarta is fascinating. Just stop along the Malecon, order a Cerveza or a Margarita and enjoy the people-watching!
Fourteen days in amazing Turkey! Incredible history (Troy and Ephesus), ancient cultures (Byzantine, Greek, Roman, Ottoman), beautiful beaches (Izmir, Bodrum and Antalya), fascinating scenery (Cappadocia, Goleme Valley), amazing architecture (Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque) and wonderful urban centres (Istanbul, Ankara).
Our motor coach tour eliminated navigation and language barriers and our exceptional tour guide added personal perspectives and insights into current politics and daily life in Turkey. It was an over-the-top vacation!
The Magic Trio: Rome, Florence and Venice, with one week at a villa in Tuscany. Doesn't get much better than this. This was an independent tour with hotels and flights arranged by Transat Holidays and all tours, trains and the villas arranged by myself. We did the obligatory tourist sites in Rome: Vatican, Coloseum, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Borghese Gardens, and much more. Walking walking walking! Then on to Florence and on to romantic Venice, with visits to Burano and Murano islands and gondola tour. Funny moment: Ron's frustration at the toll bridge, hollering at the attendant: "I don't speak Spanish!" We were in Italy . . . .
Three days in Waikiki and one week in Maui - how exquisite! This is the perfect combination if you have never been to paradise before! Visited Pearl Harbor and shopped, ate and swam at Waikiki Beach. Then off to Maui to our condo in Kaanapali. We had a car rental so explored all around the island including the harrowing road to Hana - see the photo!
Ten days in Spain! We rented a two bedroom villa in Nerja just east of Malaga and toured throughout the Costa del Sol in our rented car, from Alhambra and Marbella (lives of the rich and famous). We came to love the warm-hearted Spanish people and enjoyed the tapas, the wine, and the flamenco dancing!
